WHO IS REMOKI?

I am currently 19 years old and a sophomore in Savannah College of Art and Design. When I first started drawing I was only 2 years old. Ever since elementary school all my teachers, classmates, and family recognized my talent at a young age and encouraged me to continue drawing.

While in middle school, I began to make full original pieces of art, using my friends and classmates as subjects for them. This was also the time I began to develop my own unique art style. I’d say my art style takes inspiration from lots of cartoons, video games, and anime from my childhood. From all the diverse styles and mediums came a style I call my own.

When I entered high school my style became more defined and polished. It was forged from the Renaissance era of Disney and the vibrancy of modern day anime. At this point I was featured in the Port Jervis Life Magazine and illustrated a children’s book (Dream Chasers: The Unlikely Championship, by Cory Puopolo). I also earned the grand prize, 1st place for graphic design, and honorable mention for 3 years in the annual school poster contest sponsored by the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County New York (ADAC).

More recently I began to do more traditional artwork with other mediums. In July 2021, I enrolled in the advanced class for the Summer Art Institute from the Art Effect. Following my final year in high school, I graduated and was accepted into SCAD and major in illustration.

Not only can Art connect 2 different styles, it can connect 2 completely different people from 2 points of view. Art is the foundation for all the different styles and people to connect. Every artist has their own tree that they start from. Every tree has branches. Every branch is growing in a different direction. I’m still growing new branches. I’m thankful for the continuous support I have received to allow my tree to grow to its fullest.
